Hi my wonderful friends!
So, I got a lovely little bouquet of roses for Valentines Day from my Sweetie! They are now pretty much all opened up, but still quite beautiful. I want to save them, or at least the petals. I was wondering if any of you have ever used rose petals for any spells, rituals, concoctions, etc. I just don't want them to go to waste. I plan to do a little bit of research on this today myself, time permitting. Also, I got a beautiful gift from Carolina Gonzalez yesterday in the mail! I'll blog on that tomorrow as I must upload a photo to show it off!

ooooh let me know what you find out..I also got some and have them hanging upside down to dry..but if I can use them..I would love to!!! Please keep us updated on it :)
ReplyDeleteI use rose petals all the time, they're very beautiful and versatile when dry. Of course they are good for love spells but I also find them good for working with the Fey and wind spells as you can throw them into the air and let the wind carry them away with your wishes. They also a good filler for pot pourri recipes as they a splash of colour and gentle scent.
ReplyDeleteI always have a big bottle of Rose Water in the fridge, made by steeping dried rosepetals in boiling water and leaving to cool. I use this neat on minor burns and scalds as it is wonderfully cooling and soothing. It is also brilliant for the skin and can be added to the bath or used to wash the face and body. I like to mix it 50:50 with witch hazel and then a few drops of lavender oil to create a simple, natural cleanser/toner which is really refreshing, quick to use, cheap to make and good for all skin types.

ReplyDeleteI have dedicated a whole post on magical rose petals. I dip them in hot wax and then roll them on a herbal mix. Then burn them, use them in sechets, or as amulets. If you make the rose water, do not use it in foods, or as a facial lotion because of the pesticides. bb
ReplyDeleteIf you would like to use the petals in culinary purposes (it adds a great flavor and a nice magickal kick to your food!) make sure you wash them first! You don't know what pesticides etc. have been used on them. Gently pat dry and hang the roses upside down in a dark dry place for a week or so. If you're in a hurry you can dry them in the oven, I'll give you the exact process when I get home tonight. I like to keep them if I need anything, and I love making Rosewater out of them. I find it to be a great thing to have around, and I love making rose cordial with it. Think sweet tea, but with rose flavor. I can give you some recipes if you like, just let me know!
